Adventurous Vancouver Showshoe Mountaintop Elopement

As a North Vancouver elopement photographer, one of my favourite places to hike and photograph people is at Dog Mountain, which is a part of Mount Seymour Provincial Park.. During the summer it’s a popular hiking destination, and in the winter it becomes a beautiful wonderland for winter hiking and snowshoeing. If you choose to hike there in the winter, make sure you purchase a backcountry pass!

J+J’s first date was on Valentines day - a snowshoe hike up Dog Mountain 10 years ago. Every year on Valentines Day since then, they have travelled back to North Vancouver to do the same hike together. This year, on their 10th anniversary, they hiked with wedding clothes in their packs and a bottle of champagne! The officiant met us at the top and we signed as witnesses as they expressed their love and dedication to each other.

What a dream to be a part of their day - the weather was perfect and the hike was smooth with the help of snowshoes and microspikes. After the couple shared their vows, strangers cheered and celebrated with them at the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful moment to be a part of and I feel so grateful that we got to sign at witnesses on this special day!

First the day started off with a hike..

Once we reached the top of the mountain, we connected with the officiant and the couple did a quick change into their wedding clothes (and a quick mustache touch-up using a heat gun). Then it was time for the first look!
